VST Precision Filter Baskets are available in capacities of 15, 18, 20, and 22 grams, designed to meet the demands of coffee professionals and enthusiasts alike. These filter baskets were officially used in the 2012 & 2013 World Barista Championship and chosen by the USBC & UKBC for the 2013 Regional & National Competitions, highlighting their quality and precision in performance.

VST’s precision filters are engineered to deliver consistent extraction performance across a wide concentration range with significantly less sediment. These filters are ideal for various coffee styles such as ristretto, normal, or lungo, and are designed to perform well with minimal or no change in grind size at a fixed dose. Each filter is calibrated to a total square surface area of +/- 5% to ensure uniform performance. This meticulous design helps reduce the typical variances seen in standard filters, which can range from 50-200% of the nominal open square surface area.

Advanced Manufacturing for Unmatched Quality

Each VST filter features micro openings manufactured using a state-of-the-art micromachining and finishing process. All holes in the filters are measured for minimum and maximum range limits for surface area and diameter with an accuracy of +/- 20 µm. This level of precision ensures that each filter delivers a consistent extraction. The hole pattern is also centered to +/- 1.0 mm, optimizing the placement for even extraction across the entire coffee puck.

Compatibility with Leading Espresso Machines

The 15g, 18g, and 20g VST filter baskets are compatible with most leading espresso machines including Nuova Simonelli, Victoria Arduino, La Marzocco, Synesso, Faema, La Cimbali, and Rancilio with standard portafilters. For 20g & 22g capacities, a bottomless portafilter is required. The 22g size fits all La Marzocco and Synesso and most Nuova Simonelli models using their standard portafilters, while the 18g, 20g, and 22g are compatible with the La Marzocco SWIFT grinder.

Each VST filter is marked with a unique 2-D code to verify authenticity and performance, referring to stored factory measurements, quality reports, and image data. These measurements are stored in the VST database for all filters, and a summary quality report is included with each filter, ensuring that each filter is graded and guaranteed to perform identically to similar filter classes. Double package baskets are also available for 18g Ridged and 22g Ridged.
